Today, our club still uses the same basic by-laws and fundamentals, and still spends considerable time and money maintaining trails. At this time, we maintain 18 miles of snowmobile at 22 miles of winter atv trails in Burnett County, and 58.7 miles of snowmobile trails, and 61.5 miles of winter ATV trails. In addition, we maintain several miles of “unfunded” trails in both counties. It takes many hours of all volunteer hours to maintain these trails in a safe manner so that riders can simply enjoy the beautiful trails and scenery. We currently own and operate a John Deere 6430 tractor, and a Tucker Sno-Cat to keep the trails smooth. Our volunteer members spend many hours running that same John Deere tractor with mower and brushing attachments to keep the trails safe that are also legal summer atv trails. The average day for a groomer operator is 10-14 hours. We truly appreciate all that these wonderful volunteers do for our club, and for the general public. One day in the fall, our members join together to clear fallen trees, brush, rocks, etc., from the trails, and then enjoy a chili feed and friendship when the work is done.
We hold two major fundraisers per year – our annual booya, the first Saturday in March, and our fall Prime Rib Dinner and Auction. Our volunteer members do a lot of work for these two events, which raise funds that enable us to keep our equipment up to date so that our trails are well maintained and safe.
If you don’t belong to a club, please consider joining, and spending some time helping with the trail maintenance, enjoy the camaraderie, or join in the fun of setting up the fundraisers and taking part in that aspect of club membership.
Our club is only 38 years young; we still have a lot of work to do, and a lot of fun to enjoy with our friends and fellow members! We hope to see you on the trails!!
